Stephen Pinner, Managing Director of
Summerson Goodacre opened Systems in the City 2006 by thanking the
sponsors for their support. Stephen continued by mentioning two
amendments to the day's agenda. Namely that Jacqui Lait MP would be
standing in for Ivan Lewis MP, and that Sir Michael Savory would be
speaking on behalf of Brian Winterflood.
Stephen gave a brief overview of
Summerson Goodacre's services, followed by a walkthrough of the
day's agenda, where he described Angela Knight's speech as being on
the subject of "anything she jolly well likes". |

Stephen reminded the audience there
were two Monaco Grand Prix tickets to be won, and that four
autographed books by John Terry were also available during the
Remedi Prize Draw.
After thanking Rhyme Systems for
providing lunch and a Video iPOD as a prize, Stephen spoke about the
technological changes of the past 40 years. Knowing sounds were
heard from the more mature delegates, as photographs of
comptometers, golf ball typewriters and huge Mainframe Computer
Rooms were displayed. |
|
As each historic piece of technology was replaced on
screen by it's modern, diminutive equivalent, the presentation
culminated in a picture of a Video iPOD, representing the tremendous
advances in consumer audio / visual technology, and being offered by
Rhyme Systems in their lunchtime Prize Draw. |
